More Than a Machine Shop

From single prototypes to full production runs, we support businesses across all sectors with reliable, high-accuracy machined components and responsive service.

What makes us different?

We think like engineers first.

That means we look beyond the drawing. We consider function, tolerances, cost-efficiency, manufacturability, and long-term performance — ensuring your components are not only precise, but practical and production-ready.

Our Story

Founder, Engineer and Machinist

Joe Meehan

Hi, I’m Joe. I entered the manufacturing industry at 17, when I started my apprenticeship in 2010. I found a passion for the work and have stayed in the industry since. Continuously building on my knowledge and skills, I progressed from a CNC machinist to a Development Engineer and then R&D Manager/Head of Engineering.

Proudest Achievement:
Designing a product that outperformed another version designed in collaboration with a NASA engineer.

Experience:
I have worked for various companies over the years and gained invaluable experience in:

  • Manual machining

  • CNC milling (5-axis)

  • CNC turning (up to 10-axis)

  • CNC mill turn

  • Implementing automation using cobot arms

  • All CNC controls, including Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, Hurco, Mazatrol, Haas

During my career, I have manufactured parts for a wide range of industries, including the medical, nuclear, aerospace, motorsports and digital camera industries. I have worked with all grades of engineering plastics, aluminium, stainless steel, alloy steel, titanium and some composites, such as Teflon and carbon fibre.

What’s Next:
After 16 years, I had enough of working for companies that charged too much and took too long to produce parts. I started Billet Engineering so I could give customers a better experience and do what I love without the constraints of dated processes. My aim is to provide fair, honest prices, faster lead times and collaborative services that ensure the parts we manufacture are exactly what the customer needs.

At Billet Engineering, we don’t just manufacture parts; we work with customers to overcome engineering challenges and speed up production.
